Emraan Hashmi - The serial kisser of Bollywood!

Emraan Hashmi: “I could never kiss & tell. I hate boastful men.”

Emraan Hashmi started his journey in Bollywood with erotic-thrillers, which earned him the tag of the serial kisser; Emraan says he has no plans to shed his bold image because the audience loves him that way. Famed for locking lips with the leading ladies in all his films he believes that he is better off picking roles he is not “comfortable” portraying.
Parveen Shahani with Emraan Hashmi Emraan's filmi graph has taken a new turn with movies like Vishal Bhardwaj ('Ek Thi Daayan'), Rajkumar Gupta's ('Ghanchakkar') and Karan Johar's untitled film but he is in no hurry to alter his image "I am not looking to change my image. I know what my strong points are. Audience relate to my bold image, so I will not leave my bold image. As an actor it is my job to play different characters. I want my films to be a successful as an actor. I want to be part of various genres and play varied characters. ”

Known for his association with the Bhatt camp, Emraan is now a regular in Ekta Kapoor's films. However, according to the actor, "Comfort zone kills an actor. The more uncomfortable you are, the better you act, the cushier you get, the worse you get as an actor. I have seen it happening to myself. The films which I was comfortable doing and was confident about, did not fare well at the BO. Though repeating the people with whom I work, like for instance Ekta (Kapoor) with whom I have done three films, is more about sharing a rapport rather than being in a comfort zone. We have moved on from being cushy and comfortable because in each of the three films we have done together, whether it was Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, The Dirty Picture and now Ek Thi Daayan, we have experimented with different genres," says Emraan.
Emraan, who has worked in two films with Vidya Balan, both of which were women-centric films, says that playing second-fiddle has never crossed his mind. "I am an extremely secure actor and my career graph is not dependent on any one component of the film. I have the courage and conviction to work in a film that other stars may hesitate to be associated with. Though as an artiste, I would like to do biopics and especially films like The Aviator. It remains a dream role for me," he says.

The actor who would be teaming up with Kareena Kapoor in Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor's joint venture, further adds, "The film, which is an edgy love story, will go on floors at the end of this year. It could be a strange pairing but odd couples are far sexier, the chemistry between them is more interesting which is why Bollywood is going out of the way to cast such actors together. The Dirty Picture is the best example of this where I was paired opposite Vidya. The audiences' response confirmed that odd couples do create magic," he says.

Emraan, who now shares screen space with three heroines in “Ek Thi Daayan", says he is at peace in his personal life because his wife is not insecure about their relationship "My wife never gets insecure. After 30 films, every film has something or the other. She has her head over her shoulders; otherwise she would have left me a long time ago. She has a very mature way of looking at things."

Playing by the rules is not an Emraan Hashmi thing. Though he comes from a film background; there’s nothing filmi about him. No filmi friends on the scene, no Hindi music on I-Pod, no hotshot parties to attend; nothing! Worse, he won’t even read the red-hot gossip written about him. But that’s just him. He’s equally game to put his video game on ‘pause’ to take his wife out on a romantic date or join in juicy locker room conversations with his male buddies. So we thought we’d stun him with feisty rapid-fire questions, Emraan didn’t blink an eyelid. Frankly, he knocked our socks off…

What’s the most romantic thing you’ve done for your wife?
Parveen (Shahni) will laugh if you ask her this. Although I have a quirky sense of romance, I’m not a hardcore romantic at all.

Define romance.
When my friends serenade women, they take them out for a nice posh candle lit dinner. I prefer to take Parveen out to a panipuriwala, drive her down to Goa in the rain or go trekking.

Have you ever cooked a meal for your wife?
I’ve tried to fry an egg for her. I’ll burn the kitchen down if I try anything else.

What do Parveen and you fight about most?
Stupid little things, She’s not intrusive about my work. She might scowl if I have to do yet another kissing scene. That’s when she gets a little pissed off sometimes.

Do you insist on including a kissing scene in your contract?
(Laughs) No. I don’t want another kissing scene. I’m always cribbing on the set and these days the girls in my films are amused. They probably think I’m some sort of pervert.

What do we not know about you?
I’ve got a really gross sense of humour. I don’t create good first impressions. I do have a sense of humour but it’s great if someone gets it. Sometimes I use snide remarks and one-liners to defuse a situation but it might come across as rude to some. I’m sarcastic about everything, I look sarcastically even at myself.

One thing you hate and one thing you love about yourself?
I hate the fact that sometimes I’m a bit too cautious. And I love the fact that sometimes everything seems okay with me. I’m fairly tolerant towards most things.

Do you have any fetish?
Ahhh, I do. But I can’t speak about most of them. I don’t want to sound anymore dysfunctional than I already do. I’m a sucker for cars and watches. I’ve seen the evolution of video games, since I started off in the ’80s. So I’m a hardcore video game fanatic.

Has anyone from the industry hit on you?
(Sheepishly) I’m not answering this one; it could land me in trouble.

Tell us one crazy fan incident.
At midnight, a woman visited my film set, invited me for dinner at her place and handed me a gift. After the set wrapped up at 5 am, I suddenly remembered the gift. It turned out to be the most bizarre and unexpected thing I’ve ever received. It was her lace underwear with her number and perfume.

Have you ever annoyed the daylights out of your co-star?
Yes, but I never let it get to a boiling point. I can see when their heat levels are rising. I stop there.

A piece of advice you’d like to give Mallika Sherawat?
I think she’s beyond advice. No point.

What do men bond over?
Cars, women…

So you do talk about women?
Oh yeah, all the time, Locker room conversations et al. However, I could never kiss and tell. I hate boastful men. I could never be friends with them. That’s uncool. And gossiping is to the point of fun, not ruining someone’s reputation.

Have you ever had your heart broken?
Yes. It was a crucial time in my life, which made me want to be something. It made me realise that life is no fairytale and that you shouldn’t try to hold on. You have to learn to let go because it’s probably not meant to be.

What was your first kiss like?
Awkward. I think I was 8 or 9, yes I started young and I guess it’s scarred me for life. Look at what I’m doing now! I haven’t stopped ever since...

Have you changed your son’s diapers?
I’ve tried once it was a mess.

Do you gossip?
I’m a real bitch about everything. King size! I love ripping things apart.

Emraan Hashmi tells about changes in life after marriage!
As yet another of bollywood's eligible bachelors tied the knot to his beloved.
Emraan Hashmi, the hottest hunk in Bollywood tasted marital bliss, he married Parveen Shahani this December. The nearly four-and-a-half year old relation with his Sindhi girlfriend Parveen culminated in a marriage. Parveen who teaches small children has never been uptight with Emraan's on-screen flirtatious image and smooching.
Bollywood's very own "smooch king" proscribes the serial kissing tag in movies, though he would continue with the roles and kissing scenes. The love relation has brought forth considerable changes and made him realize that he is no longer a player boy. Contrary to his filmy plots revolving around multiple relations and affairs, Emraan reckons that he can spend his whole life with Parveen, the love of his life. Emraan Hashmi of Murder and Aashiq Banaya Aapne fame is to play the ideal role, a true family man to perfection in his real life.
Emraan is now back from his honeymoon. According to him no radical changes have been taken place in his life after marriage, except… “You wake up with someone else in the bed. That's when it dawns on you that the status of the relationship has changed also the fights about dirty towels lying around, etc. But seriously, the relationship is more defined now. We've taken our bonding to the next level,” said Emraan
Has Parveen forbidden Emraan from kissing his heroines? “No! She never said that. Parveen is the last one to interfere in my career. However, no girlfriend or wife is going to jump with joy if she sees her man kissing another woman,” said Emraan. However Emraan will not totally stop kissing on screen. If scripts demand he will do it again. “But I'm not going to do it just for the heck of it any longer,” he quipped.
In all the roles Emraan has played so far, there is an amount of kinkiness in characters. Emraan claims that people expect that when they come to see his movies.
How does she deal with his smooch king rep? “We have had conversations about it. She does have normal insecurities, but is very strong. She knows the rumors associated with me are a part and parcel of being famous. She has learnt to bear with it.”
“I believe sex is a very important part of one's life but it shouldn't be the be all and end all of one's life because then it becomes a sickness. But sex as a component of healthy living is very important for me, be it in a form of live-in relation or a love-relation. Besides this, I would like to have some intimacy with a girl before I go to bed with her. I can't enjoy sex with someone who I am not familiar with. The emotional bonding with a girl gives more physical pleasure than being with a stranger”. We gel because of our differences. Parveen is very patient, completely non-filmi, mellow, homely and traditional — everything I wanted in my life partner. She has brought stability in my Casanova life. “Her being non-filmi is a big plus; I don’t want to return to industry talk when I go back home and I can trust her totally, which may not have been the case if I had an actress in my life.
So how does his family react to his kissing on screen?
"My dad and my grandmother don't like me kissing on screen.”I know I hurt the sentiments of people their age. But my dad and my grandmother aren't the audience today. They won't buy a ticket to watch my film. I know I get flak, but for me, everything starts and ends with the box office. Today, whatever I do on screen, I connect with the people of my generation, and they have no qualms about it. Today, we don't show two birds necking or two flowers bending to depict a sexual scene."
So when was his first kiss in reality? "In the ninth standard,” recounts Emraan. "Our teeth clanked, and we were struggling. It was so embarrassing,"he smiles, adding, "After having kissed so many times, I am still struggling to kiss properly."
The actor is also certain that marriage is not going to affect his dude image. "Going by past references, in Bollywood (Aamir, Shah Rukh Khan) and Hollywood, I don't think marriage, comes in the way of stardom. It's the persona, the aura and the talent that talks."
